Portfolio > cosmic shuffleboard

'cosmic shuffleboard' was inspired by witnessing a stone situated amongst a few well defined cracks in the desert floor. I was struck by how the rock looked like a disc in an alien's game of shuffleboard. This work is a simulation of that moment in time, with the images above the board depicting the scene through the use of darkroom experimentation. The board below the images holds homemade 'meteorites,' constructed from clay and etched copper bearing the real pattern of widmanstätten meteorites. The meteorites are arranged on the board with trails behind them, alluding to the sailing stones of Death Valley.
